SINCE March 2001
L’Etranger, Books & Tea, named after Albert Camus’s novel “L’Etranger” (The Stranger ). When it opened its door in March 2001, it was the first licensed bookshop in Laos since the communist era. The Canadian owner came for a couple of days but fell in love with Luang Prabang and decided to stay.
This place is a testimony of her love for books, tea, great food, cozy lounges, art and movies.
We specialize in Second hand books but offer anything from bestsellers, great classics, non-fiction, travel novels & guides, to children’s books in English. We also have sections with French, German and many other foreign language books. Selection is hard to come by so donations are greatly appreciated.
